About the Artist
My work offers perceptual and tactile experiences to the viewer. I experiment with creating unexpected relationships, and work both with additive and subtractive processes.Interactive features present opportunities for viewers to turn, erase, lift, remove tape, or touch. Some works allow the viewer to choose the orientation of the picture plane by turning the piece on a rotating base or by choosing whether to erase the surface with rags, bread, or other items. Many viewers struggle to decide whether to interact and change an artwork’s surface, which creates a kind of parallel to our behavior in the natural world. I like the idea of work which reaches out to the viewer, changes over time, and challenges the sanctity of the art object and its exhibition space.
